World Clock Deluxe 4.19.1

October 29, 2023

  • The incompatibilities with macOS 14 Sonoma have been solved.
  • The offset from UTC and daylight-saving time information of Nuuk and Qaanaaq have been updated after Western Greenland changed time zone. At 11:00 PM on October 28, 2023, Western Greenland Time (WGT) and Western Greenland Summer Time (WGST) moved from UTC-3 to UTC-2 and from UTC-2 to UTC-1, respectively.
  • Daylight-saving time for Morocco and Western Sahara has been updated. Next year, Morocco and Western Sahara will switch from Western Europe Summer Time (UTC+1) to Western Europe Time (UTC) during Ramadan, presumably from March 10 to April 14, 2024.
  • Some other minor fixes and improvements have been introduced.

March 1, 2024

  • The offset from UTC of the Eastern part of Kazakhstan has been updated. At 12:00 AM on March 1, 2024 Eastern Kazakhstan moved from UTC+6 to UTC+5, so that now the whole country uses the same time zone.
  • The offset from UTC of the Antarctic stations Vostok and Mirny has been updated. Vostok recently moved from UTC+7 to UTC+5, while Mirny uses UTC+7 (and not UTC+6).
  • The time zones observed by Nuuk, Qaanaaq, and most of Greenland (UTC-2 during winter and UTC-1 during summer) have been renamed to Central Greenland Time (CGT) and Central Greenland Summer Time (CGST), respectively.
  • Daylight-saving time for Palestine has been updated. Palestine postponed the start of DST from April 13 to April 20, 2024.
  • Turkey officially changed its English name to Türkiye.

World Clock Deluxe 4.19

October 27, 2022

  • The incompatibilities with macOS 13 Ventura have been solved.
  • The Meeting Planner can now display up to 72 hours starting from the specified date. By default, the Meeting Planner shows 24 hours, but you can choose a longer time range (36, 48, or 72 hours) from the Span submenu of the Action pop-up menu at the bottom of the table.
  • The Meeting Planner can now show date separators, horizontal lines marking the last time slot of each day. By default, date separators are visible. To hide them, deselect the Date Separators item in the Show submenu of the Action pop-up menu at the bottom of the table.
  • Clock times can now be copied to the Clipboard. To copy a time, display the Clocks palette pop-up menu or the World Clock Deluxe status menu, select a clock, and choose the time from its Copy Time submenu. The Copy Time format can be changed by pressing modifier keys while showing the submenu: you can use 12-hour or 24-hour time and add seconds, date, time zone, and city.
  • A bug, that caused clocks not to be immediately updated when the “Light text on dark background” option was toggled from the Clocks palette, has been fixed.
  • The offset from UTC of the Antarctic stations Casey and Concordia has been updated. Both stations moved from UTC+8 to UTC+11.
  • Daylight-saving time information for Fiji, Iran, Jordan, Palestine, and Syria has been updated. Fiji will not switch to daylight-saving time this November. From 2023, Iran will no longer observe DST. Daylight-saving time in Palestine will end one day later this year, at 2:00 AM on Saturday, October 29, 2022. Jordan and Syria abolished the switch to standard time and will observe daylight-saving time all year round.

  • Daylight-saving time information for Mexico has been updated. From 2023, Mexico will no longer observe daylight-saving time, except for Mexico–United States border cities in the states of Baja California, Coahuila, Nuevo León, and Tamaulipas which will continue following the United States DST rule.
  • The time zone of the Mexican state of Chihuahua has been updated. Chihuahua moved from Mountain Daylight Time (UTC-6) to Central Standard Time (UTC-6) at 2:00 AM on October 30, 2022.

  • The offset from UTC of Ciudad Juárez in the Mexican state of Chihuahua has been updated after Mexico amended its new time zones law. Ciudad Juárez moved from Central Standard Time (UTC-6) to Mountain Standard Time (UTC-7) at 12:00 AM on November 30, 2022.
  • Daylight-saving time information for Mexico, Morocco, and Western Sahara has been updated. After Mexico amended its new time zones law, the Mexico–United States border cities in the state of Chihuahua will observe daylight-saving time following the United States rule. Next year, Morocco and Western Sahara will switch from Western Europe Summer Time (UTC+1) to Western Europe Time (UTC) during Ramadan, presumably from March 19 to April 30, 2023.

  • The offset from UTC of the Antarctic stations Casey and Concordia has been updated. With winter approaching in the southern hemisphere, both stations moved from UTC+11 to UTC+8.
  • Daylight-saving time information for Egypt, Morocco, Palestine, and Western Sahara has been updated. The Egyptian government announced the reintroduction of daylight-saving time, which will start at 12:00 AM on the last Friday in April and end at midnight on the last Thursday in October. Morocco and Western Sahara will switch back to Western Europe Summer Time (UTC+1) on April 23, 2023, one week earlier than presumed. Palestine postponed the start of daylight-saving time from March 25 to April 29, 2023, after the end of Ramadan.

  • Daylight-saving time information for Lebanon has been updated. Due to Ramadan, the Lebanese government decided to postpone the start of daylight-saving time from March 26 to April 21, 2023.

  • Daylight-saving time information for Lebanon has been updated. After the postponement of daylight-saving time was strongly criticized and many institutions refused to comply with it, the Lebanese government reversed its decision and stated that DST will start at 12:00 AM on March 30, 2023.

World Clock Deluxe 4.18.1

January 27, 2022

  • The “Automatically set current date” option has been added to the Meeting Planner. If selected, the Meeting Planner will automatically show the current date when you open it for the first time after having launched World Clock Deluxe. To select the option, click the Options button in the Meeting Planner.
  • Button icons in the Time Converter and Meeting Planner panes and the World Clock Deluxe icon in the menu bar have been revised on macOS 10.15 or earlier and now match the icons used on macOS 11 and 12.
  • An incompatibility of the show/hide palette keyboard shortcut with the Romaji input mode has been solved.
  • A bug, introduced in version 4.16, that could cause colors in the UTC column of the Meeting Planner to be incorrect on macOS 10.13 or earlier has been fixed.
  • A bug, introduced in version 4.17, causing the Save Reports and Delete Reports buttons to be initially disabled in the Weather Reports window on macOS 10.15 or earlier until new weather reports are downloaded has been fixed.
  • Some other minor fixes and improvements have been introduced.

World Clock Deluxe 4.18

October 28, 2021

  • World Clock Deluxe is now ready for macOS 12 Monterey.
  • The display and editing of the show/hide palette keyboard shortcut now work correctly with non-Latin input sources: when a non-Latin input source is selected, the key combination displayed in the Palette pane of World Clock Deluxe preferences now uses the last used Latin input source and when the show/hide palette keyboard shortcut is edited, World Clock Deluxe automatically switches to the last used Latin input source.
  • The anchor palette and lock anchor key combinations are now always Command-A and Command-L respectively, no matter whether a Latin or non-Latin input source is selected.
  • On macOS 11 or later, the color of the selected World Clock Deluxe status menu icon or clock has been corrected and is now black in case of light menu bar.
  • The World Clock Deluxe Help has been revised and is now better searchable.
  • Daylight-saving time information for Fiji, Jordan, Morocco, Palestine, and Western Sahara has been updated. Fiji will not switch to daylight-saving time this November. From 2022, DST in Jordan will start one month early, at midnight on the last Thursday in February. Daylight-saving time in Palestine will end at 1:00 AM on Friday, October 29, 2021. Next year, Morocco and Western Sahara will switch from Western Europe Summer Time (UTC+1) to Western Europe Time (UTC) during Ramadan, presumably from March 27 to May 8, 2022.
  • Some other minor improvements have been introduced.

World Clock Deluxe 4.17.1

  • World Clock Deluxe is now Universal and runs natively on Apple Silicon and Intel-based Macs.
  • The default palette font size has been increased.
  • On macOS 11, a bug that caused the old status menu icon to be displayed when clocks stopped to rotate in the menu bar has been fixed.
  • A bug, introduced in version 4.17, that caused the N/S button in the English Add/Edit City dialog not to toggle has been fixed.
  • A bug, introduced in version 4.17, that could cause the hidden Dock to appear when World Clock Deluxe was opened on macOS 11 and World Clock Deluxe not to be activated at launch on macOS 10.14 or earlier, has been fixed.
  • Some other minor bugs have been fixed.

World Clock Deluxe 4.17

  • World Clock Deluxe has adopted the new look of macOS. On Big Sur, windows and toolbars have been revised, lists have been made more spacious, and symbol images have been introduced.
  • The Clocks palette has a new translucent background and new controls and supports Dark Mode.
  • An incompatibility with Catalina that caused the World Clock Deluxe menu bar not to respond to mouse clicks at startup until the application was deactivated and reactivated has been solved.
  • The offset from UTC of the Antarctic stations Casey and Concordia has been updated. Both stations moved from UTC+8 to UTC+11.
  • Daylight-saving time information for Fiji, Iran, Morocco, Palestine, and Western Sahara has been updated. Fiji will observe DST from December 20, 2020 to January 17, 2021. Daylight-saving time in Palestine ended one week earlier this year, at 1:00 AM on Saturday, October 24, 2020. Iran will observe DST from March 22 to September 22 in 2021, 2022, and 2023. Next year Morocco and Western Sahara will switch from Western Europe Summer Time (UTC+1) to Western Europe Time (UTC) during Ramadan, presumably from April 11 to May 16, 2021.
  • Some other minor improvements have been introduced.

  • Daylight-saving time information for Fiji and Norfolk Island has been updated. Fiji will observe daylight-saving time from November 10, 2019 to January 12, 2020. Norfolk Island introduced daylight-saving time following the Australian rule.

  • Daylight-saving time information for the Canadian territory of Yukon and for Iran, Morocco, and Western Sahara has been updated. Yukon abolished the switch to standard time and will observe daylight-saving time all year round. This year, Iran will observe DST from March 21 to September 21. Morocco and Western Sahara will switch from Western Europe Summer Time (UTC+1) to Western Europe Time (UTC) during Ramadan, from April 19 to May 31, 2020.

  • On macOS 10.12 or later, a bug that caused World Clock Deluxe to stop responding when its status menu was dragged out of the menu bar, then was added again, and all clocks were hidden has been fixed.
  • The offset from UTC of Volgograd, Russia has been updated. The Volgograd Oblast moved from UTC+3 to UTC+4 at 2:00 AM on October 28, 2018.
  • The offset from UTC and daylight-saving time information of Morocco and Western Sahara have been updated. Both countries canceled DST and moved from Western Europe Time (UTC) to Central Europe Time (UTC+1) at 3:00 AM on October 28, 2018.
  • The offset from UTC of the Antarctic stations Casey and Concordia has been updated. Both stations moved from UTC+8 to UTC+11.
  • Daylight-saving time information for Chile and Fiji has been updated. From 2019, Chile (excluding the Region of Magallanes and Chilean Antarctica that have DST all year round) will observe daylight-saving time from midnight on the first Saturday in September to midnight on the first Saturday in April. Next year, Fiji will end daylight-saving time on January 13, 2019.
  • Minimum required system version is now macOS 10.11.

  • The offset from UTC and daylight-saving time information of Namibia have been updated. Namibia canceled DST and at 2:00 AM on September 3, 2017, when daylight-saving time would have started, moved from West Africa Time (UTC+1) to Central Africa Time (UTC+2).
  • Daylight-saving time information for Fiji has been updated. Fiji will end daylight-saving time on January 14, 2018.
  • The “Look Up Weather Station Indicator” command has been restored. Weather station indicators can now be looked up on the Aviation Codes Central website.

  • The offset from UTC of Sudan has been updated. Sudan moved from East Africa Time (UTC+3) to Central Africa Time (UTC+2) on November 1, 2017.
  • Daylight-saving time information for Macquarie Island in Tasmania, Northern Cyprus, and Tonga has been updated. Macquarie Island uses Australian Eastern Time and observes DST following the Australian rule. Northern Cyprus restored winter and summer time, canceling daylight-saving time all year round. Tonga is supposed not to repeat last year’s daylight-saving time trial.

  • The offset from UTC of the Antarctic stations Casey and Concordia has been updated. With winter approaching in the southern hemisphere, both stations moved from UTC+11 to UTC+8.

  • On macOS 10.10 or later, a bug that could cause long cities/time zones/texts to be unnecessarily truncated in the Dock has been fixed.
  • Daylight-saving time information for Turkey has been updated. Turkey abolished the switch to standard time and will observe DST all year round.

  • The city of Famagusta in the Turkish-controlled part of Cyprus has been added to the World Clock Deluxe database. Northern Cyprus followed Turkey and now observes daylight-saving time all year round, while the rest of Cyprus switched back to standard time on the last Sunday in October.
  • The offset from UTC of the Antarctic stations Casey and Concordia has been updated. Both stations moved from UTC+8 to UTC+11.
  • Daylight-saving time information for Tonga has been updated. Tonga reintroduces DST this year, starting on the first Sunday in November and ending on the third Sunday in January.

  • Daylight-saving time information for Haiti, Iran, Mongolia, Morocco, Western Sahara, the US Antarctic station Palmer, and the Region of Magallanes and Chilean Antarctica in Chile has been updated. Haiti reintroduced daylight-saving time on March 12, 2017. Iran will observe DST from March 22 to September 22 in 2017, 2018, and 2019. Mongolia canceled daylight-saving time this year. Morocco and Western Sahara will suspend DST during Ramadan, presumably from May 21 to July 2, 2017. Palmer Station and the Region of Magallanes and Chilean Antarctica abolished the switch to standard time and will observe daylight-saving time all year round.

World Clock Deluxe 4.15.2

  • For improved security, World Clock Deluxe now uses encrypted HTTPS connections when checking for updates and automatically downloading and installing updates of cities, time zones, and DST rules.
  • Daylight-saving time information for the Cayman Islands, Iran, Morocco, and Western Sahara has been updated. The Cayman Islands will not introduce daylight-saving time in 2016. Iran will observe DST from March 21 to September 21 this year. Morocco and Western Sahara will suspend daylight-saving time during Ramadan, presumably from June 4 to July 9, 2016.
  • Two time zones have been added to the World Clock Deluxe database. New time zones are Choibalsan Time (CHOT) and Choibalsan Summer Time (CHOST).
  • Time zone abbreviations have been revised and a few changes have been introduced.

  • Daylight-saving time information for Haiti and Chile has been updated. The Haiti Presidency announced that Haiti will not observe daylight-saving time this year, while the Chilean Ministry of Energy announced that Chile, after spending all of 2015 on DST, will switch to standard time for three months in 2016, from midnight on the second Saturday in May to midnight on the second Saturday in August.

Daylight-saving time in Palestine started at 1:00 AM (and not at 12:00 AM) on March 26, 2016.

  • The incompatibilities with macOS 10.11 El Capitan have been solved.
  • On El Capitan, conversion results and meeting details can now be saved to a note or added to a reminder by clicking the Share button.
  • Conversion results and meeting details can now be copied to the Clipboard by choosing Copy Conversion/Copy Meeting Details from the Edit menu or using the Command-C keyboard shortcut.
  • The system font is now the default font of the Clocks palette on all system versions, including macOS 10.9 or later.
  • The font of the Clocks palette and the Font pop-up menu in the Palette pane of World Clock Deluxe Preferences are now updated when fonts are disabled or enabled using Font Book.
  • A bug, introduced in version 4.15, that affected the “Slide horizontally” and “Slide vertically” transition effects of the Clocks palette has been fixed.
  • Several other minor improvements have been introduced.

Fiji will observe daylight-saving time from November 2, 2014 to January 18, 2015.
  • The offset from UTC of 10 Russian cities has been updated after the Samara, Udmurtia, Kemerovo, Zabaykalsky, Magadan, Chukotka, and Kamchatka regions moved to a different time zone and Russia brought its time zones back to 11 on October 26, 2014. Edited cities are:

  • Daylight-saving time information for Brazil, Egypt, Morocco, and Western Sahara has been updated. Due to Carnival, daylight-saving time in Brazil will end one week later in 2015, on the fourth Sunday in February. Daylight-saving time in Egypt, that was reintroduced in May 2014, will start on the last Friday in April and end at midnight on the last Thursday in September next year. Egypt, Morocco, and Western Sahara will suspend DST during Ramadan, which in 2015 will start on June 18 and end on July 17.

  • Buttons in the Time Converter and Meeting Planner panes have been revised. In addition to that, on macOS 10.8 or later, you can now easily share conversions and meeting details via Mail and Messages.
  • The Palette pane of World Clock Deluxe Preferences lets you now specify any palette font size between 8 and 99.

This year, Morocco and Western Sahara will suspend daylight-saving time from June 29 to July 29 for Ramadan.

  • World Clock Deluxe now has a Meeting Planner pane that allows you to easily find the best time for an online chat, a conference call or videoconference across different time zones. To display the new pane, choose View > Meeting Planner.
  • The Meeting Planner is very easy to set up: after having picked a date from the calendar, you can quickly add two, three, or more cities, specify your home city, replace or remove cities, and add frequently used cities to your Favorites.
  • The Meeting Planner is highly configurable: you can choose a color theme, specify the duration of time slots and when mornings, days, evenings, and nights start, and decide which information (Coordinated Universal Time, weekday, date change, UTC offset, time zone, daylight-saving time) should be displayed.
  • The Meeting Planner lets you copy the details of your meeting to the Clipboard so that you can email them to all participants. The Options dialog lets you specify if you want to copy rich or plain text, choose a text layout and date format, and determine which information must be included in the copied text.

  • On macOS 10.5 or later, the Time Converter lets you now specify dates by picking them from a calendar.
  • The Time Converter now provides more information about conversions: you can view the offset from UTC and the time zone abbreviation of the selected locations and you can see whether cities use daylight-saving time or not and if daylight-saving time is in effect, not in effect, or applied all year round.   • The configuration of the show/hide palette keyboard shortcut has been revised so that Unicode keyboards and the F17, F18, F19 keys are now supported. In addition to that, shortcuts containing function keys, arrow keys, or keypad keys do not require modifiers anymore and keypad keys appear in square brackets [ ] in the Palette pane of World Clock Deluxe Preferences.
  • The offset from UTC of the Kuril Islands and Ust-Nera, Russia has been updated after some districts of the Sakhalin region and Sakha Republic moved from Magadan Summer Time (UTC+12) to Vladivostok Summer Time (UTC+11) on August 31, 2011.
  • Daylight-saving time information for the Palestinian Territories, Samoa, Ukraine, and the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador has been updated. This year, the Gaza Strip advanced the end of DST on August 1, before the beginning of Ramadan, while the West Bank suspended daylight-saving time during Ramadan and resumed it on August 30. Samoa will start DST one day earlier, on September 24, and Ukraine abolished the switch to standard time and will observe daylight-saving time all year round. The Newfoundland and Labrador province amended its DST legislation to start and end daylight-saving time at 2:00 AM in line with the rest of North America.
  • Some minor bugs have been fixed.

  • The offset from UTC of Irkutsk, Russia has been updated after the Irkutsk region moved from Irkutsk Time (UTC+8) to Krasnoyarsk Time (UTC+7) on March 27, 2011.
  • Daylight-saving time information for Belarus, Chile, the Gaza Strip, Morocco, Russia, Samoa, Turkey, the West Bank, and Western Sahara has been updated. Starting from March 27, 2011, Russia will observe daylight-saving time all year round and Belarus will probably do the same. This year, Morocco and Western Sahara will observe daylight-saving time from April 3 to July 31, while DST in Turkey started one day later, on March 28, due to a nationwide exam on March 27. To increase energy savings, Chile decided to further postpone the end of daylight-saving time to May 8. In addition to that, winter time in Chile will last less than 4 months this year with DST starting on the third Saturday in August. Daylight-saving time in the West Bank and in the Gaza Strip will start on April 1 and 2, respectively and Samoa will advance the end of DST from April 3 to April 2.

Fiji advances the end of daylight-saving time from April 25 to March 28 due to growing complaints across the country. DST will then return on October 24. Paraguay amended its DST start and end dates (first Sunday in October to the second Sunday in April) as part of a series of measures to rationalize electricity consumption.   • San Luis, Argentina has been added to the World Clock Deluxe cities database. After Argentina moved to daylight-saving time on December 30, 2007, the San Luis province decided to return to standard time on January 21, 2008 much earlier than the rest of the country.

  • Time zone abbreviations (standard and daylight) have been associated to cities so that city clocks can now display the time zone (e.g. New York, 5:25 PM EST or Sydney, 9:25 AM AEDT).
  • A type (standard or daylight) has been associated to time zones, so that World Clock Deluxe can correctly suggest standard and daylight time zone abbreviations while you are adding or editing cities. In addition to that, the Calculate Longitude button has replaced the two Standard Time Zone and Daylight Time Zone buttons which allowed you to automatically calculate longitudes while adding or editing time zones.
  • Cities, time zones and daylight saving time rules have been revised and updated. Western Australia and Honduras introduced DST, while Iran abolished it. Beginning in 2007, DST in the United States, Canada, Bermuda and Saint Pierre and Miquelon will start on the second Sunday in March and end on the first Sunday in November. Wake Time has been corrected to UTC+12. Greenland time zones have been revised: the time zone observed by the northwestern part of Greenland (UTC-4) is Atlantic Time, while the time zone observed by the southwest and south coast of Greenland (UTC-3) is Western Greenland Time. Several time zone names and/or abbreviations have been updated.   • The Clocks palette can now be anchored to a screen corner so that its position doesn’t change as the palette size varies or the screen resolution changes. To anchor the palette, start dragging it as usual and then press Command-A to activate an anchor corner.

  • The World Clock Deluxe date formats let you now omit the year indication.
  • Cities, time zones and DST rules have been revised and updated. Georgia and Kyrgyzstan changed time zone (Georgia switched back to UTC+4, while Kyrgyzstan moved to UTC+6) and abolished DST. The state of Indiana, United States introduced DST, while Tunisia and Nicaragua abolished it. Cuba didn’t switch back to standard time at the end of October 2005.   • A mistake in the resources made it impossible to decrease the palette opacity under 50% using the slider in the Palette pane of World Clock Deluxe Preferences when the application was running in German, French, Dutch or Italian. Resources have now been corrected.

  • The Clocks palette controls (close button, resize control and scroll arrows) can now be hidden. To hide controls, deselect the “Hide controls” checkbox in the Palette pane of World Clock Deluxe Preferences or Control-click the palette’s background and choose Hide Controls from the contextual menu. To quickly show or hide controls, simply Shift-click the palette’s background.When controls are hidden, you can close, resize and scroll the palette from its contextual menu. To close the palette you can also click any clock in the palette and choose Close Palette from the displayed pop-up menu.
  • Clocks can be made more transparent: minimum opacity is now 20%.
  • Transparent clocks can now have an opaque text. To make the text (and hands) opaque when clocks are transparent, select the “Don’t apply to text” checkbox in the Palette pane of World Clock Deluxe Preferences.
  • The Menus pane has been introduced in World Clock Deluxe Preferences. It lets you customize the pop-up menu which appears when you click a clock in the palette, the Dock menu and the World Clock Deluxe status menu. You can add your local date and time and decide whether to show clocks or not. You can list all clocks, visible clocks, or hidden clocks.
  • The number of labels has been raised to 10 and default label colors have been rearranged.
  • The “Bring to Front/Bring All to Front” command has been added to the pop-up menu which appears when you click a clock in the palette and to the World Clock Deluxe status menu.
  • Cities, DST rules and time zones have been revised. Haiti, Nicaragua and Tunisia have introduced DST in 2005, while Kazakhstan abolished it. The UTC offset of Aqtau, Kazakhstan has been updated (it recently switched to UTC+5) and the British Indian Ocean Territory UTC offset has been corrected to UTC+6. Rothera, Antarctica and two new time zones, Pitcairn Time (PNT) and Taiwan Time (TWT), have been added.
  • Shift-clicking the Clocks palette’s background shows or hides controls now. To change the palette’s orientation you must now Shift-Command-click its background.
  • Two different bugs that could cause the vertical palette to crop the widest digital clock under particular circumstances has been fixed.

  • The Show column in the Clocks pane list has been replaced by the Palette, Dock and Menu Bar columns, so that different clocks can now be displayed in the Clocks palette, in the Dock and in the menu bar.
  • Keyboard shortcuts have been introduced to speed up showing and hiding clocks. Control-clicking a checkbox in the Clocks pane list simultaneously shows or hides a clock in the Clocks palette, Dock and menu bar. Option-clicking a checkbox shows or hides all clocks in the Dock or menu bar (Dock and Menu Bar columns) and shows all clocks or hides the other clocks in the Clocks palette (Palette column).
  • The Clocks pane list can be configured by showing or hiding its columns. To configure the list, click the List Options button in the Clocks pane and select or deselect columns in the displayed dialog.
  • The Show Weather button has been introduced in the Clocks pane, so that you can quickly display the current weather in your clocks’ cities.
  • While adding, editing or duplicating a time zone you can now automatically calculate its longitude from the UTC offset. To calculate a standard time zone’s longitude, click the Standard Time Zone button. To calculate a daylight time zone’s longitude, click the Daylight Time Zone button.

  • The Advanced pane has been introduced in World Clock Deluxe Preferences. It lets you open World Clock Deluxe automatically at startup and hide the World Clock Deluxe icon in the Dock. When the icon in the Dock is hidden, World Clock Deluxe is a background-only application and has no menu bar: to open windows, view the Help, and quit the application, use the World Clock Deluxe status menu towards the right end of the menu bar.

Georgia’s UTC offset has been changed (it recently switched back to UTC+3) and daylight-saving time information for some cities has been updated. Dubai, United Arab Emirates and three new time zones, Ulan Bator Summer Time (ULAST), Hovd Summer Time (HOVST), Uruguay Summer Time (UYST), have been added.
  • A bug which could cause the Clocks pane list not to display alternating row background and tooltips has been fixed.
  • A bug which could cause label colors not to be updated in dialogs and in the Default Clock pane of World Clock Deluxe Preferences has been fixed.
  • Some other minor bugs have been fixed and some other minor improvements have been introduced.
  • Minimum required system version is now macOS 10.2.

World Clock Deluxe 4.0.1

  • A bug causing clocks to defer the transition to daylight-saving or standard time if World Clock Deluxe was running during the actual transition, but the computer was sleeping or had been sleeping, has been fixed.
  • A bug causing non-rotating clocks in the Clocks palette not to be regularly updated on macOS 10.1.5 has been fixed.
  • Full keyboard access and keyboard navigation (text boxes and lists only/any control) are now correctly supported. On macOS 10.2.8 or earlier a bug causing the Clocks palette to be shown or hidden when the toggle full keyboard access, toggle focus for any control, menu, window, toolbar and utility window keyboard shortcuts were pressed has been fixed.
  • A mistake in the German resources causing the Show date and time of weather reports menu in the Weather pane of World Clock Deluxe Preferences not to pop up has been corrected.
  • The Clocks palette is now automatically repositioned and resized considering the whole screen, even when the Dock is always visible.
  • When importing cities, World Clock Deluxe looks now for a version 3.x preferences file in the Preferences folder and automatically selects it in the Open dialog.
  • The Close command has been added to the Window menu
  • Some other minor bugs have been fixed.

World Clock Deluxe 4.0

General

  • World Clock Deluxe has been rewritten as a Cocoa application.
  • The World Clock Deluxe user interface has been completely revised.
  • All World Clock Deluxe localizations now share the same preferences. Weather reports and predefined cities, countries, time zones, daylight-saving time rules, date formats, time formats and labels are translated automatically when World Clock Deluxe switches to a different language.

Clocks pane

  • The 24-clock limitation has been removed: you can now define as many clocks as you need.
  • Clocks can now display an alternate text instead of the associated city’s name or time zone’s abbreviation.
  • Two new clock format options have been introduced: date change and UTC offset.
  • Weekdays are now displayed in the current World Clock Deluxe language.
  • A clock’s date format can now be customized. You can choose a date format differing from the format selected in your International preferences and assign different date formats to different clocks.
  • Multiple clocks can now be edited at the same time, so that you can quickly apply one or more format options to multiple clocks.
  • Clocks can be duplicated and multiple clocks can now be deleted simultaneously. Clocks can also be deleted by pressing the Delete key.
  • Clocks can now be dragged in the Clocks pane list without having to hold the Option key. Multiple clocks can now be dragged at the same time.
  • Two new sorting criteria have been introduced: time and longitude offset. Clocks can now be sorted in ascending or descending order and arranged by two sorting criteria.
  • On macOS 10.2 or later World Clock Deluxe now always correctly identifies your local city when running for the first time.

Cities & Time Zones pane

  • The cities database has been revised and contains over 400 cities now. All capitals have been included and, for multi-time zone countries, at least one city for time zone is now available. For the United States, at least one city (capital or major city) for state is now available. Daylight-saving time information has been revised. Weather station indicators have been added for most cities.
  • Cities having the same geographical coordinates of an existing city can now be defined. Countries are now optional. The maximum accepted UTC offset is now + 14 h.
  • Daylight-saving time adjustments differing from 1 hour (20, 30, 40 minutes or 2 hours) can now be specified.
  • Cities can be duplicated and multiple cities can now be deleted simultaneously. Cities can also be deleted by pressing the Delete key.
  • Daylight-saving time rules have been introduced: while adding or editing cities you can display the DST Rules panel providing daylight-saving time rules for most countries or regions observing daylight-saving time. To apply a rule, select the corresponding country or region in the DST Rules panel and click Apply Rule. Daylight-saving time rules can be added, edited, duplicated and deleted.
  • World Clock Deluxe 4 does not read your World Clock Deluxe 3.x settings, but, in case you had added a considerable number of cities, gives you the possibility to import cities from your World Clock Deluxe 3.2 or 3.1.1 preferences file. To import cities, choose World Clock Deluxe > Import Cities.
  • The time zones database has been revised, contains over 200 time zones now and covers the whole world.
  • Time zone names are now optional. The maximum accepted UTC offset is now + 14 h.
  • Time zones can be duplicated and multiple time zones can now be deleted simultaneously. Time zones can also be deleted by pressing the Delete key.

Time Converter pane

  • An incompatibility with macOS 10.3 or later has been fixed. On macOS 10.3 or later changing the left (right) date and time by typing a new year, month, day, hour or minute didn’t produce a corresponding change of the right (left) date and time unless Return was pressed.

Weather

  • World Clock Deluxe shows the current weather by retrieving weather reports via HTTP from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s servers and listing them in the Weather Reports window. To show the current weather in one or more cities, select them in the Cities & Time Zones pane and click Show Weather. To quickly show the weather in your clocks’ cities, Shift-Control-click any clock in the Clocks palette and choose a city or All Cities from the displayed pop-up menu.
  • Weather reports can be configured using the Weather pane in World Clock Deluxe Preferences. World Clock Deluxe lets you:
    • Automatically clear all reports when quitting
    • Show recent reports only (reports are considered recent if issued maximum 24, 48 or 72 hours, 1, 2, 3 or 4 weeks before download)
    • Display dates and times of reports in Coordinated Universal Time, weather station local times or your local time
    • Use Imperial or metric units (temperatures can be displayed in degrees Fahrenheit or Celsius, visibility in miles or kilometers, atmospheric pressure in inches of mercury or hectopascals and wind speed in knots, miles per hour, kilometers per hour or meters per second)
  • Weather reports can be saved as RTF documents. You can save all reports, the selected reports or the reports issued starting from a certain date. You can optionally skip errors reported during the download.
  • Weather reports can be copied to other applications by dragging them to the desired document window.
  • Weather reports can be rearranged in the Weather Reports window by dragging them in the list. Multiple reports can be repositioned at the same time.
  • Weather reports can be deleted by clicking the Delete button in the Weather Reports window. You can delete all reports, the selected reports, the reports issued before a certain date and the errors reported during the download. Reports can also be deleted by selecting them and pressing the Delete key.

Clocks palette

  • The Clocks palette has been redesigned and has a completely new appearance. Drawing in the palette has been improved to reduce CPU usage.
  • Analog clocks can now be displayed in the Clocks palette. When clocks are analog, their dial size can be adjusted.
  • The palette’s font and type size can now be changed.
  • The Clocks palette size has been reduced: different clocks have different widths when the palette is horizontal.
  • Transparent clocks now become automatically opaque when the mouse pointer is over the palette.
  • The Clocks palette can now lie on three different levels: it can float over all windows, behave as a normal window or lie on your desktop under all open windows.
  • A transition effect (fade, slide horizontally, slide vertically) can now be associated to the clocks’ rotation in the palette.
  • The palette pop-up menus have been revised. The Pane pop-up menu lets you now quit World Clock Deluxe and display all your clocks, too. The Format pop-up menu has been re-organized. The Rotation Speed pop-up slider has been dropped and a new Show Weather pop-up menu (Shift-Control-click on any clock) has been introduced.
  • Some of the modifier keys allowing to quickly accomplish frequent tasks directly from the palette had to be changed. To show and hide clocks from the palette you must now hold the Control key while clicking a clock. To drag clocks in the palette you must now use the Command key. To change the palette’s orientation, you must now Shift-click its background.

Dock

  • Clocks in the Dock icon have been redesigned to make them more readable.
  • Analog clocks can now be displayed in the Dock icon.
  • A transition effect (fade, slide horizontally, slide vertically) can now be associated to the clocks’ rotation in the Dock.
  • Clicking the icon in the Dock lets you now also show and hide the Clocks palette.

Menu bar

  • World Clock Deluxe lets you now add its icon on the right side of the menu bar and use it to quickly display your clocks in a pop-up menu.
  • Clocks can also rotate in the menu bar: both digital and analog clocks can be displayed in the menu bar.

World Clock Deluxe Preferences

  • Preferences have been moved to the World Clock Deluxe Preferences window and are displayed by choosing World Clock Deluxe > Preferences.
  • Two new preference panes have been added: Menu Bar and Weather. The Menu Bar pane lets you show and rotate clocks in the menu bar and the Weather pane lets you change the way weather reports are displayed in the Weather Reports window.
  • The Date & Time Formats pane has replaced the Time Formats pane. The AM/PM and 24-Hour predefined time formats have been replaced by 23 time formats named by region (Australia, Austria, Belgium, ... ). Date formats, also named by region, have been introduced. Date and time formats can be added, edited, duplicated and deleted. Multiple formats can now be deleted simultaneously. Date and time formats can also be deleted by pressing the Delete key.
  • Label styles have been introduced in the Labels pane. Both in the Clocks palette and in the Dock icon you can decide whether to display label colors as background colors, as frame colors or as text colors.

Other improvements and fixes

  • World Clock Deluxe lets you now check for updates. To see whether a new World Clock Deluxe version is available and download it, choose World Clock Deluxe > Check for Updates.
  • The Look Up Weather Station Indicator, Look Up Latitude & Longitude and Look Up UTC Offset & DST commands have been added to the Help menu, so that adding new cities is easier and quicker.
  • Several minor bugs have been fixed and several minor improvements have been introduced.
