Clocks palette tips and tricks

World Clock Deluxe lets you quickly accomplish many frequent tasks directly from the Clocks palette.

Open panes and settings

 

Open the Clocks pane

Click any clock and choose Clocks from the pop-up menu.

Open the Cities & Time Zones pane

Click any clock and choose Cities & Time Zones from the pop-up menu.

Open the Time Converter pane

Click any clock and choose Time Converter from the pop-up menu.

Open the Meeting Planner pane

Click any clock and choose Meeting Planner from the pop-up menu.

Open World Clock Deluxe Settings (macOS 13 or later) or World Clock Deluxe Preferences (macOS 12 or earlier)

Click any clock and choose Settings (macOS 13 or later) or Preferences (macOS 12 or earlier) from the pop-up menu.

Open the Date & Time pane of System Settings (macOS 13 or later) or System Preferences (macOS 12 or earlier)

Click any clock and choose Date & Time from the pop-up menu.

Open the Language & Region pane of System Settings (macOS 13 or later) or System Preferences (macOS 12 or earlier)

Click any clock and choose Language & Region from the pop-up menu.

Make World Clock Deluxe active and bring all its windows to the front

Click any clock and choose "Bring to Front" or "Bring All to Front" from the pop-up menu.

Quit World Clock Deluxe

Click any clock and choose Quit from the pop-up menu.

Copy times

 

Copy a clock's time to the Clipboard

Click any clock, select the clock whose time you want to copy in the pop-up menu, and choose the time from its Copy Time submenu. While displaying the submenu you can edit the Copy Time format by pressing modifier keys: you can use 12-hour or 24-hour time and add seconds, date, time zone, and city.

The Clocks palette pop-up menu must be configured so that clocks are visible.

Restore a clock's default Copy Time format

Click any clock to display the Clocks palette pop-up menu, select the clock whose Copy Time format you want to restore, and choose Restore Defaults from the Copy Time submenu.

View daylight-saving time transitions

 

View if any clocks are about to switch to daylight-saving or standard time

Click any clock and see if there are any clocks marked with an asterisk (*) in the pop-up menu.

The Clocks palette pop-up menu must be configured so that all the clocks are visible and daylight-saving time transitions are shown.

View when clocks will switch to daylight-saving or standard time

Click any clock and view the DST Transitions submenu of the pop-up menu.

The Clocks palette pop-up menu must be configured so that daylight-saving time transitions are shown.

Show the weather

 

Show the weather in one of your clocks' cities

Connect to the Internet, then Shift-Control-click any clock and choose a city from the Show Weather pop-up menu.

Show the weather in all your clocks' cities

Connect to the Internet, then Shift-Control-click any clock and choose All Cities from the Show Weather pop-up menu

Show, hide, and view clocks

 

Hide a clock

Command-click the clock and drag it out of the palette.

Control-click the clock and choose Hide from the pop-up menu.

Hide all the clocks except one

Control-click the clock that you want to keep visible and choose Hide Others from the pop-up menu.

Show a hidden clock

Control-click any clock and choose a Show command from the pop-up menu.

Show all the clocks

Control-click any clock and choose Show All from the pop-up menu.

View clocks

Click any clock and view the clocks listed in the pop-up menu. Depending on how you configured the menu, you can view all the clocks, the clocks that are visible in the palette, or the clocks that aren't visible in the palette.

Edit clocks

 

Change a clock's format

Shift-click the clock and select or deselect items in the Show submenu of the pop-up menu.

Change a clock's weekday format

Shift-click the clock and choose a weekday format from the Weekday Format submenu of the pop-up menu.

Change a clock's date format

Shift-click the clock and choose a date format from the Date Format submenu of the pop-up menu.

Change a clock's time format

Shift-click the clock and choose a time format from the Time Format submenu of the pop-up menu.

Assign or remove a clock's label

Shift-click the clock and choose a label or None from the Label submenu of the pop-up menu.

Rearrange and scroll clocks

 

Rearrange clocks

Command-click a clock and drag it in the palette. The "Sort clocks by" checkbox in the Clocks pane must be deselected.

Scroll clocks

Click the left and right scroll arrows or, if the palette is vertical, click the up and down scroll arrows.

If controls are hidden, Control-click the background of the palette and choose Scroll Left and Scroll Right or, if the palette is vertical, Scroll Up and Scroll Down from the shortcut menu.

Change the way the palette looks

 

Show analog or digital clocks

Control-click the background of the palette and choose Analog Clocks or Digital Clocks from the shortcut menu.

Change the palette's orientation

Control-click the background of the palette and choose Display Clocks Horizontally or Display Clocks Vertically from the shortcut menu.

Shift-Command-click the background of the palette.

Condense or expand clocks (digital clocks only)

Control-click the background of the palette and choose Condense Clocks or Expand Clocks from the shortcut menu.

Start or stop clocks rotation

Control-click the background of the palette and choose Rotate Clocks or Stop Clocks Rotation from the shortcut menu.

Adjust the time each rotating clock is displayed

Control-click the background of the palette and choose a time interval from the Rotation Interval submenu of the shortcut menu.

Add or remove a rotation transition effect

Control-click the background of the palette and choose an effect or None from the Transition Effect submenu of the shortcut menu.

Change the palette's level

Control-click the background of the palette and choose a level from the Level submenu of the shortcut menu.

Change the palette's font

Control-click the background of the palette and choose a font from the Font submenu of the shortcut menu. If you want to use the system font, choose "System font".

Change the palette's font size

Control-click the background of the palette and choose a font size from the Font Size submenu of the shortcut menu.

Change the dial size (analog clocks only)

Control-click the background of the palette and choose a size from the Dial Size submenu of the shortcut menu.

Change your clocks' background

Control-click the background of the palette and choose "Light Text on Dark Background" or "Dark Text on Light Background" from the shortcut menu.

Change your clocks' opacity

Control-click the background of the palette and choose a value from the Opacity submenu of the shortcut menu.

Make the palette's text opaque when clocks are transparent

Control-click the background of the palette and choose "Don't Apply to Text" from the Opacity submenu of the shortcut menu.

Show or hide the palette's controls

Control-click the background of the palette and choose Show Controls or Hide Controls from the shortcut menu.

Shift-click the background of the palette.

Move, resize, and hide the palette

 

Move the palette

Click the background of the palette and start dragging.

Anchor the palette to a screen corner

Click the background of the palette and start dragging, then press Command-A to activate an anchor corner.

It is important that you press the key combination after you have started dragging.

Resize the palette

Drag the resize control in the bottom-right corner of the palette.

If controls are hidden, Control-click the background of the palette and choose a number of clocks from the Resize To submenu of the shortcut menu.

Hide the palette

Click the close button in top-left corner of the palette.

If controls are hidden, click any clock and choose Close Palette from the pop-up menu. Alternatively, you can Control-click the background of the palette and choose Close from the shortcut menu.
