Use keyboard shortcuts to display menus

Application Wizard lets you quickly display the Open, Quit, Switch, and Special menus by pressing key combinations.

To enable or edit a keyboard shortcut to display a menu:

Open Application Wizard. On macOS 13 or later, choose Application Wizard > Settings. On macOS 12 or 11, choose Application Wizard > Preferences. Then click Menus.

  • To enable a keyboard shortcut, select its checkbox in the Active column of the list.

  • To change a keyboard shortcut, double-click the key combination in the Shortcut column and press the new key combination you want to use.

Key combinations including a function key, arrow key, or keypad key do not require modifier keys (Shift, Control, Option, Command). All the other key combinations must contain at least one modifier key. Keypad keys appear in square brackets [ ] so that you can distinguish them.

  • To specify where a menu appears after you press its key combination, choose a position (pointer, center of the screen, screen corner) from the pop-up menu in the Position on Screen column.
