View the contents of file packages

When previews are enabled, the Special menu lets you view the contents of file packages.

To enable the display of package contents in previews:

Open Application Wizard.
On macOS 13 or later, choose Application Wizard > Settings. On macOS 12 or 11, choose Application Wizard > Preferences. Then click Previews.
Select the “Show package contents” checkbox.

To view the contents of a file package:

Select the file package or application in the Special menu and display the Package Contents submenu. To open an item contained in the package, choose it from the submenu.

Note: On macOS 14 or earlier, you can also display the contents of file packages independently of previews. Hold down the Control key and select the file package or application in the Special menu. A submenu will show the contents of the package.
