Browsing your iPhoto library

If you have iPhoto 2 or later and previews are turned on, Application Wizard lets you have your iPhoto library always to hand, so that you can quickly browse and open albums, preview photos and video clips, view ratings, keywords and metadata and copy photos to the Clipboard.

To preview a photo or video clip and view its rating, select it in the iPhoto Library submenu. To view the associated metadata and iPhoto keywords and comments, display the More Info submenu.

To copy a photo to the Clipboard, display the Copy submenu and choose the desired size from the Image submenu.

To open a photo with Preview or a video clip with QuickTime Player, choose Open. To open the photo or video clip with a specific application, choose it from the Open With or Open With Running Application submenu.

To display a photo's or video clip's Info window in the Finder, choose Get Info. To locate the photo or video clip in the Finder, choose Show in Finder. To show the original version of a photo you have edited, choose Show Original in Finder. To copy the photo or video clip to the Desktop, choose Copy to Desktop.

To open iPhoto, choose iPhoto Library from the Special menu. If you have iPhoto 6 or later, you can also open folders, albums, slideshows or web galleries and display specific photos or video clips in iPhoto by selecting them in the iPhoto Library submenu.

By default, Application Wizard shows albums, slideshows, web galleries, recent photos and events and your current print project, but hides your overall iPhoto library.

To browse your entire library, display the iPhoto Library submenu and choose Show Events & Photos if you have iPhoto '08 and Show Library if you have iPhoto 6 or earlier. If you have iPhoto 5 or 6 and prefer to view your library by film roll, choose Show Rolls in Library from the iPhoto Library submenu.

If you wish to display the number of items (photos and video clips) in your events or rolls, albums, slideshows and web galleries, choose Show Item Counts from the iPhoto Library submenu.

Calendars, cards, books and shared photos can't be viewed using Application Wizard.

If you don't see the iPhoto Library item in the Special menu, you may need to add it to the menu. Click the Menus tab in the Application Wizard pane in System Preferences, click the Configure Special Menu button and drag the iPhoto Library item from the Items list to the Special Menu list.
