Browsing your Aperture Library

If you have Aperture 1.5 or later and previews are turned on, Application Wizard lets you have your Aperture library always to hand, so that you can quickly browse projects and albums, preview images, view metadata and keywords and copy images to the Clipboard.

To preview an image, select it in the Aperture Library submenu. To view the associated metadata and keywords, display the More Info submenu.

To copy an image to the Clipboard, display the Copy submenu and choose the desired size from the Image submenu.

To open an image with Preview, choose Open. To open it with a specific application, choose it from the Open With or Open With Running Application submenu.

To display an image's Info window in the Finder, choose Get Info. To locate the image in the Finder or copy it to the Desktop, choose Show in Finder or Copy to Desktop, respectively.

To open Aperture, choose Aperture Library from the Special menu. To display the number of versions in each project, folder, album, book, web gallery or light table, choose Show Number of Versions in the Aperture Library submenu.

If you don't see the Aperture Library item in the Special menu, you may need to add it to the menu. Click the Menus tab in the Application Wizard pane in System Preferences, click the Configure Special Menu button and drag the Aperture Library item from the Items list to the Special Menu list.

If the Aperture Library submenu is outdated or displays Not Available despite your Aperture library isn't empty, open Aperture and make sure that the Share previews with iLife and iWork checkbox in the Previews pane of the Aperture Preferences window is selected and that you are maintaining previews for all your projects.
