Previewing PDF and text files

The Special menu lets you preview PDF and text files. You can preview several types of text documents: plain text and rich text format files, Word documents and templates, OpenDocument text files, web archives, XML property list files, source and strings files.

To customize PDF and text file previews:

  1. Open the Application Wizard pane in System Preferences and click Menus.

  2. Click the Customize Menus button. In the dialog that appears, click Special.

  3. Click the Customize Previews button. In the Previews panel:

    • Deselect the "Frame previews" checkbox if you do not want to display PDF and text file previews in a frame.

    • Drag the "PDF files" and "Text files" sliders to adjust the size of previews.

If you do not see previews in the Special menu, you may have disabled them. To re-enable them, click the Customize Menus button in the Menus pane of the Application Wizard preferences, click Special, and select the "Show previews" checkbox.
